All that you need to know is the position of the sensor on the network and you can query it to find its temperature value

With serial and Ethernet control APIs

MBus_WTH_LCD_ETH: ModbusTCP / ModbusRTU Wall Temp/Humidity Sensor w/ LCD and 2 analog outputs temperature The probe is 1Part #: MBus_WTH_LCD_ETH This Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU enabled temperature & humidity sensor is designed to be mounted on a wall or a surface. It has a backlit LCD display and can communicate with a supervisory control system on an Ethernet TCP IP network using the Modbus TCP protocol and or on an RS485 network using the Modbus RTU protocol. The sensor also has two 0 5V 0 10V 4 20mA analog outputs that can provide a signal equivalent to the current
