We imagine this was only worn once and has been taken apart and stored carefully away which explains the extraordinary condition

Hand worked in gilt bullion thread over cloth with areas of stumpwork and sequins which add decorative elements and which would catch the light as the wearer moves

Block printed and painted by hand it uses motifs and imagery influenced by 17th and 18th century Indian Palalmpore and Chintzes

An incredibly rare find, this extraordinary chinoiserie glazed chintz with a plethora of exotic animals, dragons, crocodiles, snakes etc. Probably once part of some bedhangings it has been fully lined in another glazed chintz and has a frill running down one side. Stillwith its glazed finish this is an unusual and rare survivor from another age. The panel is a good size and & theres enough here to frame and mount or to use for design
