Selina Ellis 1860s Sampler PDF Jane it is never exactEnglish or Welsh? The surname Ellis is Welsh name but her first name is not. Also the verse doesn't really fit with Wales. Some of the early Welsh samplers had verses, but the later ones did not. I have two Welsh Samplers, that are almost identical stitched 36 years apart. The earlier one has a verse and alphabet, the later has neither. Selina was found in Wales and the flower urns are very Welsh, the roses not so much. It is difficult to say.
