Architect Boesiger, who had also worked for Le Corbusier in the 1920s, moved to Zurich in the 1930s. In 1935, he bought a building on Limmatquai and opened the "Caf Select", Zurich's first boulevard caf. The Select, which was frequented by Rudolf Lehni junior, quickly became a meeting place for Zurich's avant garde.
