The intricate carved geometric designs indicate that this pole was a "prestige piece" intended to embellish the tent. This pole looks to have been broken many years ago (see patina on the broken area) but the top is in good condition and perfect for a small display piece. Ehel pickets are placed inside the tent to hold the wall
