Grote bascinet met hondensnuit 1420, 2 mm (battle-ready) Valentijn Hij is net als hetThis medieval bascinet is a replica of a late 14th to early 15th century original. The great bascinet was developed at the beginning of the 15th century. Its main advantage over the traditional bascinet is the addition of a neck guard, which provides extra protection to the neck, making an aventail (camail) no longer strictly necessary. Bascinets like this offered excellent protection and were used both on the battlefield and in jousting tournaments.
