Middeleeuwse pothelm Westminster Psalter, 1-1.2 mm Doublets The blade is razor sharpThis knights helmet is based on an illustration from the Westminster Psalter (British Library, Royal MS 2 A XXII) dating from 12001250 AD. The illustration shows a knight kneeling in prayer before departing on a crusade, while his squire hands him his helmet. This type of early great helm appeared in the first half of the 13th century. It was developed from the nasal helm (calotte) and offered better protection for the entire head. These helmets were
