While you do have to add a card from your life to your hand, this is usually a benefit more than a cost, especially against opponents who try to "starve" you out by making you run out of cards faster

A handful of the Amethyst cards still get played in the game's top decks, but there's not much else to work with once you're ready to build a custom deck of your own

Wizards usually includes some reprinted legendary creatures in the preconstructed Commander decks for a new set, but they didnt do so this time since its a Universes Beyond set
